Lots of pink!

Here's the top for a dress I crocheted, and you can see the fabric below that I am going to add for a skirt. I hope to finish that tomorrow so that she can wear it to church Sunday!

Here's my progress with the hexagon motif dress. About 1/3 done! The ends are going to be horrific though. I'm not really sure what I'm doing with the top of this dress yet either.

Eureka!!!!

Well, I think so anyways. It all happened because I goofed and made a five sided motif and I was pretending it had six and using it to lay some of them out to try and figure this out when I thought "What if I use it like it is?" and there it was! The answer! It remains to be seen if this will work in reality and not on paper, but I think so. I will use a row of 5 sided motifs for the top of the skirt and then hexagons for the rest! So, I'll have to make some 5 petaled flowers now but not too many! That brings the number of motifs down to 80. Still a lot but doable!

Breakthrough?

Well, I think I may have made a breakthrough with the hexagon motifs. It's just a matter of thinking 3 dimensionally instead of 2. So I'm cutting and taping together little pieces of hexagon graph paper. I have a migraine today so we'll see if I can get this worked out, and if it still seems to work after the migraine is over....

Design crisis!

I have worked so hard on this dress trying to figure out how to do it. I have to figure out how to make the skirt of this dress in hexagon motifs and thought I had it figured out but I just did some math and found that the circumference of the bottom of the skirt was going to be 56"!!!! That's for a 12 month size! So I don't think that's going to work. So, back to the hexagon shaped graph paper. I am determined to do this! The main problem is that I have to join these as I go so I really have to have it figured out before I start! But I have a bunch of dishes to was so will have to do this later.... I'll let you know when I've got it figured out!

Flowers, flowers everywhere!

So, I have finally finished the Van Gogh round ripple! Yeah! It's been a very long time since I made a baby blanket! Now, I need to get to work on the motif dress in sunset colors for my dd. Here are the peach flowers all done.
And the yellow ones with 6 extra! Not sure why I did that!
And the darker yellow ones, I just need 4 more of these. Then I need 30 orange ones.
Here's the overview with the 3 motif's I did to see what it looked like, and the orange thread. That's a lot of flowers and it's going to be a lot of motif's! 100 in all when I'm done!

My latest FO's and WIP's

Okay, I'm really not very good at loading these pictures. At least they are here! Here is a round ripple I'm making for a friend's baby. I'm using 2 strands of Bernat Baby Coordinates and blending the colors. Here's some motifs that I'm going to make into a dress. I have to make 132 motifs!

Here is the purple swing top, finished. I'm very happy with the way it turned out!
Here is my plastic bag holder, made of plarn.
Here are some more pink mary janes made for a friend who had a baby girl. The gauge wasn't coming out the same as the pattern so I ended up doing just 3 rounds on the bottom. They came out just a little smaller than the other ones, which is just fine for a newborn.

Here's the 2 baby dresses with accessories, on the babies! They were made for my BIL's wedding. The babies are cousins born 2 days apart but the one on the left was a preemie and the one on the right (mine) was overdue and huge!

Here's some hats I made for some birthday presents for a friends 2 little boys, one turning 3 and one turning 1. Here the bigger one is modeled by my son.

Here's a top I'm making for my baby out of fingering weight yarn. You can see the detail of the stitch below, it's called Daisy Lace and is out of the Crochet Stitch Bible.

Here is a shrug I'm making for my baby out of polyester thread. It's softer than cotton. The stitch is a double trellis.

Here is a plastic bag holder I'm making out of plastic bags. I was too cheap to buy the yarn and then I found out you can crochet with plastic bags and I've got plenty of those! It's a little wide so I guess it will be a short fat bag holder instead of long and skinny.
